Following the backlash, Joel Osteen opens his church doors to those stranded by Hurricane Harvey
Joel Osteen can’t take the heat coming his way after it was reported that he did the un-Godly deed of not providing shelter and a safe place for folks who have been stranded by Hurricane Harvey.
According to the New York Post, Lakewood Church’s spokesman and Joel Osteen’s brother-in-law, Don Iloff said that folks didn’t need to come to the church because they could go and get all they needed at the Convention Center.
The New York Post quoted Iloff as saying, “It has everything inside there-medicine, doctors, places to sleep. It’s amazing what they’re doing there to make people comfortable.”
And when approached again about their decision to close God’s house to His children in need, Iloff did little to ease any concern that they’ve come to their senses about their initial wrong decision.
Iloff told the Houston Chronicle, “It’s not our unwillingness, it’s just practicality. It’s been a safety issue for us.”
Translation-Our 16,000 seat church is not meant to provide shelter for those in need.
Now, I know, I know that this comes as a surprise to those who’ve visited Joel Osteen’s webpage where he clearly says his job is to go out “Into All the World” to “feed the hungry” and to “heal the sick.”
It’s just that Pastor Joel Osteen closed his church doors when it was time for him to shelter and feed the hungry and the wounded, and to comfort the sick.
However, after folks started talking about him and cracking on him, the “Good Pastor” decided he better do God’s work and open up his church’s doors.
So, earlier today, the pastor announced, via Twitter, that his church doors would be open to all those in need. Osteen tweeted, “Victoria and I care deeply about our fellow Houstonians. Lakewood’s doors are open and we are receiving anyone who needs shelter.”
Unfortunately for Osteen, his tweet has done little to convince folks that Christ is in he and his inner flocks’ lives.
As a result, folks have gone to the Twitter to crack jokes and let the “Man of the Cloth” know how they really feel about he and his “wolves in sheep clothing.”
